Dear Rails, stop steal our projects NOW!

When Pratik published post about ActiveRecord Query Interface, a friend of mine, a big fan of Sequel was pretty annoyed that AR is trying to copy Sequel. It was fairly obvious, but I didn’t care much, you know, OSS, everyone’s stealing other people code. But then I found Arel and it gets me angry too.

If you ever seen Sequel, it has to be clear to you that Arel is just a Sequel clone. Why you should care? Because Rails are behind it. And Rails has the power to seriously damage ecosystem of Ruby software. Even now, when AR is the worst ORM in Ruby, most of the Ruby community use it simply because it’s in Rails. As they use Rails.

Also, let me remind you that Rails basically destroyed Merb. Was it good for Ruby community? Was it? Oh damn, don’t tell me your so dumb guys!

I’m seriously disturbed. Yes Zed, you were right, Rails is a ghetto.
